Hi, I’m Jo Muirhead. I’m a Career Development coach and consultant. My background, and my passion, is rehabilitation counselling.
I founded Purple Co in 2009 after spending 20 years sorting through my own career transitions and helping many people with theirs.
What really struck me through all this time, and what is increasingly more prevalent lately, is that most people don’t have the basics right. They embark on career changes without giving much consideration to the most basic and fundamental needs in life – VALUES. Without understanding and living true to your values, all the planning in the world won’t get you where you want to go. By focusing on making values-based decisions at the beginning of your journey, you will arrive at your destination more quickly, and enjoy the journey far more along the way. This is one of my core beliefs in life and one I strongly advocate in my work.
I have held a variety of management positions and have assisted with the nationalisation of two rehabilitation providers. I have a reputation for getting the job done, and for getting it done where others might give up, or not even try. I undertook two unpaid sabbaticals during the past five years, which ignited my passion for community development, and for helping people see, and put into action, their amazing potential.
I am Mum to an 11-year-old son, and have experienced first-hand the ups and downs of labour market changes; the challenges of motherhood and their impact on work life; and the negativity that can result from not being true to my core values.
I am a professional speaker, facilitator and trainer in the areas of job search activation; return to work following a period of forced change; and finding and owning our purpose passionately.
I hold credentials in E-Disc Profiling and am an Abilita Trained Coach. I am a Full Member of both the Australian Society of Rehabilitation Counsellors, and the Career Development Association of Australia.
